29 February 2008

Had Mun Khea not mentioned, I wouldn't have realized that this will be the first entry of 2008. Sorry lah... I know the blog's pretty rotten, but didn't have much time to update it ma. Okay, so I may have been lazy on a couple of occasions... but at least there's this entry now :D

Now, what shall I blog about? Let's see... just before CNY, I ALMOST lost my wallet. Was out shopping and accidentally left my wallet in the changing room. Did not realize it was not with me till I was at the cashier trying to pay. I ran back to the changing room and to my horror (although I half expected so), it was not there anymore. Went ask the shop assistants and they did not see anything. Started calling my parents and getting numbers so I could cancel the cards.

After calling my parents, I received a call from one of the credit card centres. And believe it or not, the guy who found my wallet called the credit card centre to inform that he found my wallet and got them to call me so he could return it. The centre gave me his contact, I called him and 15mins later, my wallet was back with me. So guys, if you think nice people have extinct, here's a glimmer of hope. Even the shop assistants were surprised that I actually got back my wallet, without anything missing. My cards were there, ... so were my IC and driving license... and not a ringgit short. I know it'll be very unlikely that he'd stumble upon my blog and read this, but thank you, Mr Ching!

Spent 2 days before CNY and the first 4 days of CNY in Klang. Did not go back to Malacca this time around as my aunt was down in S'pore helping my cousin bro's wife with her preganancy/confinement thingy (sorry ah... dunno the exact term to describe it). Guess what? My cousin bro's wife delivered a baby boy on Valentine's day. No one will forget his birthday in future for sure.

Anyway, back to CNY. It's nice to have reunion dinner with a large group of people. For the past year or so, my Mum, Dad and sis would join my uncle's family for reunion dinner. My aunt's family would join too. So that makes 4 from my family, 5 from my aunt's family and 11 from my uncle's family. It's a lively occassion... especially when my cousins are pretty happy-go-lucky type. They'd talk, joke, laugh and we'd laugh along. It's just.... nice ^_^

What else leh? Oh...I practically visited Aeon Bukit Tinggi 3 or maybe even 4 times within the 6 days I was back. Went there once with family, another time with cousins and aunt, 3rd time with dad, sis and cousins for Haagen Dazs... and the last was with LiLeng, Crystal and Pam for dinner.
Speaking of which, we househopped during CNY. First, it was my place. Wei Sze, Hui Ting, Crystal, Jiin (sorry I left out your name earlier, Jiin *gomen*), Li Leng, Lee Hong and Pam came. Then we went over to Lee Hong's place. Wei Sze, Hui Ting had to leave before that. But Wee Kuan joined us there. We adjourned to Pam's place and ate dinner at Aeon before moving to Li Leng's place. Many din make it, but having Wei Sze and Hui Ting join us was good 'cos we only get to see them only when they come back... and they don't often come back.

In Penang, my colleagues and I had potluck at one of our colleague's place. Total of 15 of us were there. We had lots of food. There was fried rice, noodle, KFC, sandwiches, potato salad, fruits, taufoofa, snacks, ice cream and satay. We were struggling to finish the food and some had to tapao back. After makan, we proceeded with games and I lost about RM20 >.<>

And tmr, MU will play Fulham. Hopefully they fare as well as the past 2 games la. Okay, enough said. Wanna do other stuffs. Cheerio~

Eventful week

Okay, so after some thoughts, I realized I did have stuffs to update on. Last week must have been the most "happening" week for me 'cos I was out practically every night.

On Monday, I had dinner with William and fetched him to a nearby Tesco outlet to get some stuffs. He just arrived the week before to start his internship in a company situated js beside the company I'm attached with.

Tuesday, played badminton with Ying Xuan, Li Shih, Chin Keat, Poi Kun, Eric, Allan and William. Later, Choon Chin, Yee Chuang, Tee Whye and Desmond joined us at the badminton court. After a few rounds, some went to play squash, some went to the gym and the others continued playing badminton. We had dinner together and by the time we reached home, it was prolly around 10pm.

Wednesday night was pasar malam night. Ying Xuan, Li Shih, Chin Keat and I went to Farlim pasar malam after work. We were later joined by Boo Eik. It's quite a large pasar malam, compared to the one js in front of my apartment. Can you imagine? We stayed there for about 3 hours! I don't think I've ever stayed in a pasar malam longer than an hour, what more 3 hours? But it was fun la... walking around and looking at different stuffs.

Then on Thursday, we went bowling. It's funny seeing the different bowling "styles" everyone has. Like how Boon Kee skips a lil before releasing the bowl, Choon Chin flapping his "hands" after releasing the bowl, etc. Oh, Ching Foo improved heaps and bounds in bowling compared to our first outing. Think he must have been one of the top scorers that day. Wonder how and when he practices.... hmmm....

After work on Friday, Li Shih, Chin Keat and I went to the sports complex again. Some of the bosses and seniors challenged Li Shih to a game of badminton ('cos she was one of the team members that won the recent Free Industrial Zone badminton competition). So Chin Keat and I tagged along. But upon reaching the court... we saw so many pros there... we chickened out and played table tennis instead :p Played with Chang Wan most of the time. Did play doubles a bit with Kok and Choon Chin too.

Later, went to Starbucks to play Cluedo. Yeng Seng and Han Chern each brought a set of Cluedo. Since each set can play a maximum of 6 ppl, so Yeng Seng, Han Chern, Ying Xuan, Poi Kun and I played a set while Chin Keat, Yang Tih, Tee Whye, Choon Chin, Boon Kee and Chang Wan played the other set. It was quite hillarious at times 'cos Han Chern was kinda blur and so was Poi Kun initially.

After 2 rounds, Yeng Seng and Han Chern had to leave. So the rest of us continued by playing Uno. And as usual, this Choon Chin was the joker la. That one game lasted slightly more than 1 hour. Like what Ying Xuan said, we spent 3 over hours playing 3 rounds of games only. But then again, it was interesting playing Cluedo and because we had about 9 of us playing Uno, it's no wonder each round took so long to finish.

The next day was futsal!!! This time we played at Billion supermarket. Played for 2 hours straight. Don't ask me the score 'cos I think almost everyone scored a goal at least once throughout the 2 hours :p And after we played futsal, we had lunch together and went home to bathe and rest. Went out again later to get christmas gifts for the exchanging gifts session that night. Proof that Penang is very small: out of the 8 of us who bought presents, 6 of us got the presents at the same mall - Queensbay.

So anyway, we met at Babylon cafe. Very nice place with those cushion-sofa-like places to sit on. We played all sorts of card games, thanks to ideas from Li Shih, Ying Xuan and Allan. We played and laughed and joked and played and laughed again. We must have been the noisiest bunch there! But we had a very good time la. I got this head bobbling thingy as my xmas gift. I'll snap a photo the next time around and post it up here.

And yesterday night, went to watch footie. And Man Utd won!!!! Hahaha!! And because they won, I purposely wore my MU jersey to work today. It was kinda "paiseh" la at first.. cos I had my name printed at the back. But then again, damn proud to be MU supporter! :p There were others who wore MU jersey as well that day. Semangat MU-ism!!!! Nyahahahahahhaha!

Okay, enough said. I'll go on and on about MU if I don't stop now. Till the next post, cheerio!

Since Lee Sue Ann asked to update, here's a post on birthday celebrations at the company I'm attached with. See, our department has birthday celebrations every month. They'll gather all the birthday girls/boys of the month, get some cakes and gather during break time to celebrate a lil. It so happened that they haven't had time to celebrate the September, October and November birthdays so they were all postponed to this month: December. Initially my name wasn't in (I suppose 'cos I'm still considered a newbie and they don't update their data that regularly) but Yueh Chin reminded the department secretary and they slotted my name in.

So, last Tuesday, we gathered all the September, October, November and December babies. I think there were a total of 20 people or so. Plenty of cakes! Uploaded a few pics here:

I wasn't looking at this cam's direction becos there were 2 cams at that time... they didn't go like, "1,2,3... snap" So I just main hentam look at one direction la.

The girls: Siti, Lai Yeen, Ying Xuan, Li Shih and myself.

That's Poi Kun who seems to be more interested in his cake rather than the camera, Boo Eik (not in smock), Li Shih, myself, Ying Xuan and finally Chin Keat.

Top L-R: Alan, Poi Kun, Eric, Li Shih, Boo Eik, Sue Anne, Chin Keat
Bottom L-R: Ying Xuan, Ching Foo

There's this other candid photo we took which was kinda funny but I shall not upload here la (right Ching Foo? - otherwise, if Siew Kee happen to stumble upon my blog, then it'll be REALLY bad, wouldn't it? :p)

Birthday celebrations

So I was back last weekend. Spent most of the time at home 'cos I fell ill but I did manage to meet up with Lee Hong, Li Leng, Crystal, Jiin and Audrey at Bangsar Village 2 for dinner that Saturday. I knew the occassion was to celebrate both Li Leng and Crystal's bday but I did not expect them to celebrate a belated bday for me. So yeah... we each had this cute cupcake and a candle on top of it. As usual, Sue Anne did not bring her camera and the photos aren't with me.

Anyways, we got a present each and my, my.... mine was the largest. And guess what? Lee Hong wrapped it with this big polka dot wrapper! Haha.. it was nice though and what's the content of that wrapper you ask?? Presenting.....

Ta da!!!

No, "Ta da" is not its name >.< At the moment, it's nameless. Will try to figure out an appropriate name soon. I've brought it to Penang with me and now I'm hugging it to sleep everynight! Thanks peeps!

How I spent the Deepavali holidays

As mentioned in the previous post, Lee Hong, Suet Leng and Li Leng came over to Penang during Deepavali. But before I picked them up from the airport, I went over to Bkt Dunbar for paintball with colleagues.

We first divided ourselves into 2 groups. The team I was in comprises of Tit Min, myself, Li Shih, Poi Kun, Tee Whye, Chang Wan and Tim

The 2nd group consists of Weng Heng, Kooi Sing, Choon Chin, Ching Foo, Virgil, Lai Yeen and Boon Kee.

Right before we entered the "battlefield", the weather was perfect. But after we put on our gear, it rained -___-" We still carried on though. We let the rain to stop a lil before starting and thankfully, it stopped when we started to play. We had 4000 pallettes and those lasted us 3 rounds. Unfortunately, my team lost all 3 rounds -____-" But it was fun!

I got shot 3 times though >.<>.< But again, it was fun!

Notice how dirty everyone looks?? :p

So yeah... that was paintball. After that, went home, showered and waited for Li Leng and the rest to arrive. They reached about 4pm I think and brought them back to the apartment I'm renting currently to put their luggages. Then, we headed off to Gurney for Pasembur and also hawker food. Later, we went up to Batu Feringghi for the night market. Before heading home, we stopped by at Pulau Tikus for its lok-lok as supper.

The next day, I had to work so I left my car for them. We met up for lunch at Queensbay Mall together with my colleagues. After work, I brought them to Kayu for Nasi Kandar. Quite expensive ah the food there. My meal costs around RM8 >.< But I suppose the food was ok lah. First and last time I'll eat there :p

On Saturday, we went to town to makan dim sum. After that, we went to Kek Lok Si. Took some photos and ate the famous Asam Laksa there. It started raining then and I was so afraid it'll continue to rain till evening, which will mean futsal had to be canceled. Anyway, we waited for the rain to stop before heading to Swatow Lane for cendol. I must say, I do like what they've done to the place. Very modern-ish and nice.

After that, drove back home and I was SO happy that it stopped raining. We changed and headed to BJ for futsal. There were a total of 11 of us; 6 girls and 5 guys. We split the girls to 3 a team and then slotted in the guys. The first 10mins was hillarious 'cos we could hear some of the girls screaming :p As we played longer, the screaming lessened and I suppose everyone got the hang of the game. Li Shih was our top scorer that day, bagging 2 goals. Choon Chin, Chang Wan and myself scored a goal each and Ching Foo scored an own goal. The scoreline at the end of the day was 3-3. Really fun ^_^ Unfortunately, we din bring camera then. So no photos >.<

Later that night, most of us met at Halo Cafe in Autocity. The singing there has dropped a lot since I last visited that place. But oh well...

The next day, all of us woke up quite late. We ate brunch together and then I had to send them to the airport liao. So yeah, that about sums out the activities we had that weekend. I'm currently trying to arrange more futsal. Problem is with the futsal courts. BJ futsal is cheap but it's open-aired. Rain means tak boleh main. Shall need to dig a bit more and see. Till then, cheerio ^_^

More updates

As promised, photo from Grace's wedding. Unfortunately, I still haven't gotten the photo of the bride herself so this will have to do la :p

Standing (L-R): Sue Ann, Wee Kuan, Yee Pam
Sitting (L-R): Li Leng, Crystal, Suet Leng, Lee Hong

So, let's see what is there I can update on. Oh yes! Suet Leng, Li Leng and Lee Hong will be coming to Penang on Deepavali till Sunday. They'll be staying at my place during those 4 days. Will be bringing them around Penang. There'll be lots of makan makan and the highlight will be FUTSAL!!! Yes, fanatic Sue Anne strikes back! :p Asked several friends and colleagues to join us and I've even booked the futsal court. There'll be about 12-14 of us playing and I can't wait! I just hope it doesn't rain on that day 'cos it's an open-aired court. So, everyone! Pray for Sue Anne that it doesn't rain on Saturday evening!!! :p

And yes! I almost forgotten! Before Suet Leng, Li Leng and Lee Hong arrive, my colleagues and a couple of our US counterparts who are here in Penang for a few weeks, will be playing paintball together. Syioknya!! I haven't played paintball before. Though I heard that being shot at (with palettes) is kinda painful but it's helluva fun ^_^

So yeah... I'll update about those next week (if possible). Stay tuned to PSA.fm :p

Wished I was there...

Sighh... I missed Grace's wedding last September and I missed last Saturday's japanese buffet outing in Shogun. How I wish I was there! Grace is the 1st amongst us to tie the knot and I wasn't there to attend her wedding. Suet Leng organized a gathering (the biggest so far - 27 ppl attended it) and again I wasn't there. Jealousnyaaaaaa. Well, at least I get to see some photos.
