Midnight visitor
It was about 2am and I was in the midst of writing a lab report. So was Shy. Ling was already asleep. Since Shy sits at right angles to me, with my back facing her right back... we were busy doing our work, minding our own business. I was listening to music on my sis's iPod Shuffle when suddenly I heard Shy screaming.
Without even turning back to see what's wrong, I instinctively ducked, taking cover from something I feared. As I ducked, I did turn behind and true enough.. there it was, a cockroach flying towards me. I ducked further and it flew passed me. Shy and I immediately ran out of the room. And we were out of the room for some time, mind you. Who wouldn't? We were taken completely off guard. That thing js flew into the room through the window from out of nowhere~!
Anyway, back to the story. We stood outside, helplessly. I wanted to call Sue Yen from next door to help me get rid of the cockroach (I learnt that she wasn't afraid of them during one of our trips back to campus from Klang). But then, I saw her room lights were switched off. Then, I went over to Yin and Jiin's room. Their lights were out too.
Out of options, we had no choice but to get rid of the cockroach ourselves. After some time, I gathered enough guts to enter the room. I mean, I'm scared of cockroach. But I'm even more afraid of FLYING cockroaches. Like I said in one of the entries since the last cockroach's visit... you just never know where they'll land.
Yeah... you'll never really know. How would I know? 'Cos that blardy cockroach flew right at me and landed on my shorts, not too long after I entered the room. I started screaming and jumping and it flew off my shorts, onto the floor... near Shy's bag. I ran out the room again. Waited awhile to calm myself down before I entered the room again, this time with the broom at hand.
It was some time before the cockroach reappeared (on the ground... thank goodness~!) and I extended the broom and started whacking it like mad. The cockroach just wouldn't die. So I swept it out of the room, out of the corridor, and then to the staircase area. Man, you wouldn't believe how relieved Shy and I was seeing the cockroach, on its back... about 20m away from the room.
After that, Shy and I didn't dare sleep. She was telling me, "how to sleep if you know now that cockroaches and just fly in and out of the room like that? what happens if the same thing happened when we're sleeping?" That was it. I couldn't sleep. I didn't dare sleep. So, here I am.. finishing my lab report to keep me awake.
Then, Shy and I decided to take shifts. She's sleeping now... slept about slightly less than 2 hrs ago while I take watch. Will wake her up at 6am and it'll be my turn to sleep. Currently trying to finish off my report till then. But truthfully, I can't wait to just shut my eyes and lie on the bed. I know it's stupid not to sleep because of a freaking cockroach, but I can't help it.
One more hour... one more hour and I can sleep......
