Camp stories: the good, the bad, the ugly...
I'm back to continue the events that took place during the camp. Where was I?? Oh yess... performance. After the performance, we played some games before hitting the sack. Prema and I didn't play 'cos we were busy preparing Milo for supper. When we went back to the "hall," they were halfway playing the pass-the-rubber-band-with-straw game.
This is how the game goes. Everyone is given a straw. Music is played and they pass a rubber band from one person to another using their straw. Music stops, last person with the rubber band is to convince Janu and Yen Lu to not shorten their straw (by cutting it, of course). If the member fails to convince either Janu or Yen Lu, straw will be cut and game goes on.
When Prema and I got to the hall, Aida was having the rubber band on her straw. She was to pass it to Chin Yung. Chin Yung, being the playful self he is, used his straw to peck Aida's lip while she was trying to pass the straw to him. Aida's immediate reaction -----> slap~! Yup, Chin Yung got a slap on his face~! Everyone LAUGHED~! I mean, how often to you see a girl slapping a guy in public? Chin Yung got scared that when the game resumed with Aida again, he put both hands on his cheeks in case she ever decides to slap him again~
That's the funny event that took place during the camp. There was also "ugly" events. And I guess you guys can figure out who the "culprit" is laaaa... yup, it's that "friend" I mentioned in my previous entry. First day of camp, wah lau.. he treat as if nothing happened, no email was sent and talked nicely with us (committee members). Come 2nd day... pull long papaya face.
See, we had rafting on the 2nd day, in the evening. All of them participated except Yee Yong, Yen Lu, Prema and I. Yen Lu and Prema slept first while I took watch (can't blame us... we only had 2 hrs of sleep the night before). Then at 5pm, I woke Yen Lu up and she jaga-ed la. While I was sleeping, that "friend" suddenly returned back to the campsite alone. Yen Lu innocently asked, "how come you're back so early? where are the others?" and he shouted, "SHUT UP!"
Then at slightly past 6pm, Janu woke both Prema and I up and told us that that "friend" was angry 'cos they (William and a few others, I think) threw him into the water. Startled me a lil. I mean, if you're going to a place where there's a river/reservoir/water area, you are bound to get wet, right? And besides, I think it's "tradition" that some ppl get thrown into the water during camps. If you don't like getting wet, don't like the idea of throwing ppl/getting thrown into the water, then don't participate la.
But noooo~! He "merajuk." Didn't talk to anyone at all after that. Which is why I was surprised when he stood outside our (committee's) tent and called for me during dinner time. At that time, I was busy looking for the can opener for Yen Lu. I told him to wait awhile while I search for it. He shot back and said, "NO. This cannot wait." I ignored him and continued looking and after passing the can opener to Yen Lu, I went to him.
Sue: Yeah?
"Friend": *pulls sarong, shows his knee that has a cut on it* do for me!
What does he mean by "do for me"? He wants me to clean his cut and "plaster" it. I was freaking mad~! Who the hell does he think I am? His maid ar? I know the first aid kit is in the tent and I am the only one in the tent at that time, but hello? I think he could have been more polite lor. Maybe I'm sensitive la. I dunno. But I think even if I were a maid, I deserve better "instructions" lor.
And mind you, it was more like those grazed, hairline-kinda cut. I think my wound was much deeper than his. I mean, I could see the flesh on my wound and I didn't tend to it till after obstacle course and wall climbing. And it was on my palm. I cleaned and "plaster-ed" it myself. His cut was on his KNEE. He has BOTH hands available. He could have just asked for some antiseptic and tape and cotton (we didn't have plasters left) and done it himself. Sheeessshhhh
Oh... I didn't like "erupt" on him la. Didn't want to create another scene. But if I wasn't a comm member, I would have given him a piece of my mind. But then again, if I wasn't a comm member, I wouldn't be holding the first aid kit and he won't need to ask me to "do-for-him."
He pulled long, papaya face throughout the evening. Sat outside his tent alone. I dunno if he was trying to gain sympathy from others or not, but if he did... it sure didn't work. Everyone walked past him like he wasn't there. No one approached him. Nada~ Nilch~
Some "experience" from my first camp, huh? Get to meet people such as him. Thank goodness it happened on the 2nd day and not the 1st day. Otherwise, we'll have to tolerate that long, papaya face for another day. I know I sound bad. I AM bad >:)
