Hectic Holiday part I

I'm back~! Yes, I have been MIA for a VERY long time. Was away in UK for about 10 days. Came back last Thursday night. On Saturday, went over to Malacca to send my sis to MMU for the orientation week. Man, I bet my sis has loads to say about the orientation. MMU has this non-ragging-orientation policy. So, you can guess that the entire orientation week will be quite a bore. Not that I am a ragging fan... in fact, I support that it's non-ragging. But then, the people there are seriously lame. I'll leave the story to my sis to elaborate la. You'll hear all about it in her blog once she gets internet connection there (i think).

Oh.. and my sis doesn't have a roommate. Means she has the entire room to herself. Bad thing is... I personally think it's quite scary to sleep in a room that is dimly litted. Her roommate did not appear. I think she didn't even register. Perhaps she received an offer somewhere else. Hopefully the hostel unit will get her another roommate a.s.a.p. But in the meantime, she'll have to sleep alone.

Okay, so some of you may ask why is it that I get to stay over at my aunt's place when I was in Malacca but my sis doesn't? Two words: Driving license. She hasn't touched 17 yet. She's yet to take her driving lessons. She has not gotten her driving license. If she were to stay at my aunt's place, she'll have to drive to campus.. which is about 5-10 minutes away. I suppose that's the bad thing for PTS jumpers.

Anyway, back to the UK trip. We didn't take many pics. Most of the time was spent on traveling from one city to another. We touched down in London Heathrow Airport on Monday night. Took the underground tube to Victoria Station. Took us about 1 hour. Then, we walked from the station to our B&B, which is about 10 minutes walk. We had our dinner just outside the station before that. "Watched" an interesting fight there. Didn't really see what happened but two guys started fighting. One was pulling the other guy's hair, the other one was throwing punches. After a few minutes, both stopped and just walked off... treated as if nothing ever happened. Some warm welcome, huh? :p

We didn't go anywhere that night. After 12.5hours of flight, who'd want to? I think we hit the sack about 930pm local time. Next morning, we went around London by foot and tube. Seriously, their underground tube is SO convenient. There's a train every 5 minutes or so. And it's fast. It links to just about anywhere. We went to Westminster on the first morning. Went around Big Ben, the parliament house, 10 Downing Street and Westminster Abbey that day.

We couldn't take photos in the Abbey. Rather big a place. Took us about 2 hours to tour the whole area. All the previous kings and queens were buried there. So were famous people like Shakespeare, Handel, Newton (if you watched Da Vinci Code... Newton's was exactly like the one shown in the movie... but it was out of bounds for us. We could only see it from about 5 feet away?)

The next day, we went to Tower Bridge. Come afternoon, we headed to Buckingham Palace to see the changing of guards. There were LOADS of ppl there. We could only see from afar. Didn't get to see witness the changing of guards, though. But took a few pics outside. We had lunch at St James's Park... which was next to Buckingham Palace. Sorta picnic-ed there. It was nice. Sitting on the grass, enjoying the sandwich, overlooking the lake, cool breeze... something which you'd definitely NOT do in M'sia at that hour. After lunch, we went over to Harrods. There wasn't much to see 'cos the things were super expensive. Walked about 5 minutes in the mall and then walked out.

After that, my sis and I went to Madame Tussaud's while my parents went over to Arsenal. We were supposed to meet back at Picaddily Circus (PC) after 2 hours. But our tour in Madame Tussaud lasted about 1 hour only, so I sms-ed my mum asking if we should wait at PC. No reply. After 10 mins of waiting, we took the tube back to PC, which is about 15 mins walk and train ride from Baker Street (where Madame Tussaud and famous Sherlock Holmes were) and searched. They were nowhere to be seen. Fearing they may have gone back to Baker Street, we took the tube back there. Upon reaching BS, we receive sms from my mum saying they were now waiting at PC. So, we had no choice but to take the tube back to PC. This time, thankfully, they were there.

That's the problem with the network there. It took a good 10 minutes or so before our sms got through. Probably it's because we were underground most of the time too. Oh well, at least we manage to meet up again... after almost an hour of traveling to and from BS and PC.

The next morning, we went to get our hired car. Check it out. The pic below was the car we hired....

NOT~! :p

If we had that kinda money to hire that kinda car for a week, I could afford a Ferrari in M'sia. This is the car we hired...

something like a station wagon. A Vauxhall. According to my dad, it's a local car. They sorta joint venture with Opel... I think.

We traveled to Lake District, North of England. We stayed in a town called Windermere. The place is rather nice, I think. Very country-like. There were lakes, parks, lots and lots of sheeps, cows and horses. We went up a small hill. About 765feet above sea level, if I've not mistaken. Took a couple of pics using my sis's hp. Don't have it with me now. But the view was beautiful. When my sis comes back, I'll upload it here.

We drove around Lake district. Went to Kenswick, Bowness-on-Windermere, Ambleside, and some other towns.. I forgot their names *paiseh*

Ohh.. there's this one place in Kenswick which was rather fun. Take a look at this...

There's no camera hocus-pocus involved. My sis and I just stood there. It's all optical illusion (duh~!) Apparently, it's the same technique they used in filming Lord of the Rings. The room that we were in... at the "giant" side... the roof and the floor is rather near to the camera and the roof was obviously lower. The "dwarf" side... the wall is further back and the ceiling was much higher... cool, huh?

Okay.. I've spent loads of time loading the pics above. Sometimes it'll load. Sometimes it won't. Took me almost 3hours trying and retrying. Need to go for lunch now. Will update again later. More photos to come... including Old Trafford~! :D
